Yunus Thailand was showcased at the 9th Social Business Day in Bangkok, Thailand, the world’s largest ever such event, attended by 1600 delegates from 61 countries. Social Business Day 2019 marked a watershed moment for Thailand, because it brought together for the first time all key stakeholders engaged in social innovation and entrepreneurship in Thailand.
In 2019, Thailand Social Business Initiative (TSBI) and Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus launched Yunus Thailand, a non-profit foundation mandated to promote Social Business for Sufficiency and Sustainable Development. The launch coincides with the promulgation of Thailand’s the new Social Enterprise Promotion Act, that aims to create an enabling environment for enterprise-led development nationwide.
Yunus Thailand builds on TSBI’s strong linkages with the Royal Thai Government, corporations, academia and civil society, as well as opinion leaders within and outside the country, to pursue its mission of creating business solutions to social problems and to develop the Social Business ecosystem for the well-being of the citizens of Thailand.
