Community Development Department emphasizes YCA’s role in promoting Social Business


In December 2016, Thailand Social Business Initiative (TSBI) of which YCA is a founding member was invited by the Community Development Department (CDD) of the Ministry of Interior to the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement under which YCA will provide technical support to the Royal Thai Government’s initiative for promoting enterprise-led development. TSBI will give practical shape to the Government’s desire to encourage community leaders to Community Entrepreneur (CE) and help promote Social Business the community level.

Afterward, YCA was invited to Community Entrepreneur Committee meeting as a founding member of Thailand Social Business Initiative (TSBI) on April 20th, 2017. The executive committee consists of Dr. Soontorn Koonchaimang, Director of Right-Livelihood foundation; Dr. Pipat Yodprutikarn, Director of Thaipat Institute; Dr. Faiz Shah, Director of Yunus Center at AIT and team; representatives from Stock Exchange of Thailand; and executive directors and officers of related bureau under CDD.

The meeting resolution agreed with Community Entrepreneurs pilot model and key assessment indicators to be used to evaluate potential community and local enterprises. There are commission appointed 3 teams of cross-organization collaboration within MOU partners, in order to visit and collect data from 6 initial areas; in 6 provinces, including Samut Songkhram, Samut Prakarn, Singhburi, Supanburi, Nonthaburi, and Pathumthani. YCA will support to the 12 communities initiative for encouraging community leaders to Community Entrepreneur (CE) by following the Social Business concept.
