8th Global Social Business Summit 2017



4-9 November 2017 in Paris, France

The 8th Global Social Business Summit was held in Paris from the 4th to 9th November, where the Yunus Centre AIT (YCA) team were participated at the invitation of Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, who is also the designated chair of YCA.
YCA was featured as one of presenters, both in the Academia session, and at the Young Challengers' & Pioneers' Meeting with led by Dr. Faiz Shah, Yunus Center AIT Director and the YCA delegations. At the academia meeting, Dr. Faiz was facilitated at the main plenary on the Parallel session and the Closing session. This is a chance to continue create new networks and strengthen existing ones, enabling YCA to widen its partnerships and diversify its portfolio through collaborative activities with organizations in the region and beyond.

On the 7th of November, YCA was organized “The Social Business Campus” workshop in the event, where we unpack the connection between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Social Business on addressing the world’s problems. This gave YCA an opportunity to bring a Thailand showcase context-relevant examples that demonstrate this connection. Whether it is a research action that YCA collaborate with Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited Thailand, and the case study from our Special guest; Mr. Yodphot Wongrukmit about the Sufficiency Philosophy of Thailand’s King Rama IX and a successful models of sustainable practices in the Bangchak Corporation Public Company. Also inculded the stories from YCA’s partners that transform theory to action, such as Social Health Enterprise, Chill Chill lifestyle shop, Bamboo school and so on. The workshop was highly interactive; full with motivation, engagement and acknowledge for social business in Asia region. We continues to maintain its momentum in promoting our knowledge by highlighted the effectiveness of Social Business approaches as a vehicle for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Apart from the plenary, each member of the YCA delegation attended different workshops and discussion groups relevant to their responsibilities at YCA, thus gaining useful insight into the various aspects of Social Business. They were also actively networking with various organizations and companies who expressed interest in future collaborations and synergies which displays a promising the future of YCA.
